About Ecosynque LLC
Our Story
Ecosynque LLC was officially started in 2025, though Bree's passion to work with seaweeds started in 2017 in college. Bree is originally from southeast NC and went to school for Marine Biology; she grew up on the water and was no stranger to aquaculture - she started working with oysters & flounders in 5th grade! After Bree and her husband, Chris, moved to Maine she dove into the Damariscotta river and farmed oysters for 3 years, all the while learning about the seaweeds that grow on/around oyster aquaculture.
Ecosynque LLC was formed to make seaweed (an abundant and under-utilized resource) accessible to people throughout Maine.
Seaweeds are incredibly versatile; there seems to be a seaweed for any use you can think of. In addition, they're sustainable and an essential organism for us to lean on for our health and environment.
We partner with multiple oyster farms along the Damariscotta to harvest seaweed off of their gear to keep our harvest practices as sustainable as possible - see below partnering farms & organizations below!
